Transfer of recorded ownership usually occurs with the sale of the horse. Also, whenever legal title of a registered horse passes to another person by reason of death of the recorded owner, foreclosure of any lien, or by any order or decree of court.
Tranfer Requirements:
To transfer the recorded ownership of a registered horse, the recorded owner must submit a completed and signed Transfer Application, contaiing the date of sale or transfer.
The official Certificate of Registration for the horse must be returned with any changes marked on it, like gelding date, color change or microchip number.
MHR membership does not transfer with the horse. The new owner must complete a membership application and pay the fee.
